Aim

Help keep Dobcross Village Olympics accessible for local children by supporting training, equipment and venue costs.

Who are we?

Dobcross Village Olympics Team is one of the teams that takes part in the Saddleworth Village Olympics, giving local children the opportunity to train, compete and represent their village in a wide range of sports.

Our team is run entirely by volunteers who give up their time throughout the summer to organise training sessions, support young athletes and help create lasting memories for local children and families.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Athletes sign up each year through the central Saddleworth Village Olympics committee, and from those valued sign-up donations Dobcross Village Olympics Team typically receives around £500 per year towards running costs.

Whilst this contribution is greatly appreciated, it only covers a small proportion of the actual costs involved in running the team throughout the summer.

Although Dobcross School kindly allows us to use the playground and we are fortunate to use local outdoor spaces free of charge, some sports require specialist facilities and venue hire. Last year, one sport alone cost around £400 in training venue fees.

As costs continue to rise, we are increasingly relying on community support to help keep the team running and accessible for local children.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Any money raised will be used directly to support the running of Dobcross Village Olympics, including:

• Training venue hire and specialist facilities

• Sports equipment and replacement equipment

• Training resources and supplies

• Essential costs associated with running the team throughout the summer

Every pound raised will help us provide opportunities for local children to take part in sport and community activities.

Community impact

Dobcross Village Olympics brings together children, parents, volunteers and local residents in a unique community event that has been part of Saddleworth life for generations.

The Olympics encourage participation, teamwork, confidence, physical activity and village pride. They provide children with opportunities to try new sports, make new friends and represent their village in a positive and supportive environment.
