The Cause

At Drake Music Scotland, we believe music has the power to transform lives. Our mission is to create opportunities for disabled people of all ages to experience the joy of music and its powerful outcomes for personal growth, social engagement, and a deep sense of wellbeing.  For almost 30 years, we’ve been breaking down barriers through innovative technology, expert tutoring and collaborative creative projects, ensuring that disabled people can not only access music but flourish as performers and composers as a valued part of Scotland’s cultural scene.

Music is more than notes and rhythm - it’s a lifeline. It gives a voice to those who are too often unheard, builds confidence, and creates community. Every time a young person picks up an accessible instrument and surprises those around them with their ability, every time a new piece is composed or performed that challenges audiences’ perceptions, a door is opened to a new awareness, fundamentally shifting attitudes to the contribution of disabled people to our society.

But we can’t do this without you!

Your support enables us to provide adaptive instruments, run inclusive workshops, and develop ground-breaking new tools and technologies that unlock musical potential. A donation of £25 will support a music session for a disabled person, £150 will provide a music session in school for a group of young people, £1,500 will buy a vital piece of technology, and £5,000 will fund a creative project for 6 months. A larger gift will sustain our core staffing structure, fundamental to the delivery of our work.

With your help we can make Scotland a place with no barriers to creativity, where every individual has the chance to shine, express themselves, and enrich our shared cultural life. Please join us in this vital mission. Your gift today will help us make music accessible for everyone.
