Simon Dee was one of the first voices to be heard on Radio Caroline in 1964 and the first of the pirate DJs to join the BBC, with a radio show and later a TV show. They Enter our Crowdfunder Prize Draw for the chance to win a rare and collectable Simon Dee prize bundle.

Our prize bundle comprises:

* Original signed and dated pop-art style artwork created by Simon Dee in 1971.
Dee was holidaying at the Whitesands Bay Hotel, St Davids, Wales, with his first wife Bunny and children Domino and Simon. He created the artwork drawn in pencil and crayon on paper for fellow hotel guest Jane Mitton, who has kindly donated it to the Crowdfunder. Dimensions 9" x 11" including frame with back stand. The winner will also receive an original photo taken at the time of Simon on the beach with his family, Jane Mitton and her sister.

* Original correspondence between Simon Dee and Radio Caroline station manager Peter Moore from May 2003.
Dee's signed letter suggests ideas to celebrate the station's 40th birthday in 2004, and mentions Caroline's Sky TV channel. Also included are some hand-drawn artwork and instructions for Peter Moore on how to produce a suggested press cutting board for media publicity purposes. It is signed off 'All you need is love'. Moore’s reply talks about the current Radio Caroline activities.

* Two collectable hardback books:
‘Whatever Happened to Simon Dee - The Story of a Sixties Star' by Richard Wiseman, and 'The Simon Dee Book' from Purnell. Both pre-loved

The Cause

‘Ross Revenge' is in urgent need of dry docking, where surveys and structural repairs can be carried out. Our prize draws supplement our fundraising appeal to achieve our goal of securing the future of our historic ship for generations to come. The former pirate radio ship 'Ross Revenge' is still regularly broadcasting at sea today and more than 1,200 visitors tour the ship each year. The vessel is an important part of both deep sea fishing and broadcasting history and needs your help to keep her afloat.
