Support JamRadio: Building a More Diverse Future in Media
JamRadio is launching a crowdfunder to help promote diversity, equity and inclusion in media and strengthen the role of alternative media voices in the UK.
Recent reporting in The Guardian has raised serious concerns about what some journalists have described as an “apartheid-style” divide in UK newsrooms, where opportunities and representation remain unequal. Many talented students and aspiring journalists from diverse backgrounds still struggle to gain access to the industry.
JamRadio wants to help change that.
We are working to create a safe and supportive space for diverse voices in media, particularly for journalism and media students looking for work experience and a place to develop their skills. Our platform will give emerging reporters and creators the chance to cut their teeth in the industry, build portfolios and tell stories that reflect the communities they come from.
Funds raised through our crowdfunder will go towards studio equipment and wider support for the station, helping us grow JamRadio as a training ground for the next generation of journalists.
