We will plant new native trees to improve and diversify the woodlands in the Country Park to enhance the habitats for wildlife.
The Friends of Gedling Country Park was formed in late 2014 to help develop and maintain the new country park, situated on the site of the old Gedling Colliery. Our AIMS are to enhance its habitats, flora and fauna and to serve as an active means of communication and co-operation between all users.

Many experts like David Attenborough, Chris Packham and Wildlife Trusts have expressed concern at the reduction in numbers of birds and mammals throughout the country and this is due to loss of habitats.
The Natural History Museum reports that overall 41% of species have declined. Of these, 26% of mammals are at risk of extinction and 22% of bird species have declined. Some animals have fared badly. Hedgehogs and turtle doves have declined by 95% and 98% respectively.
Our plan will address these issues on the Park by providing trees and plants that provide support for the wildlife and ensure that the next generation of woodland can support a wider variety.
Help us fund the important initiative and come along and help with the planting!
