We hope you enjoyed Princess's video above. As the Trustees of Together TV (The Community Channel) we have launched this new fund so that we can show more programmes that reflect our diverse communities, lives, stories and experiences. We want to reflect British lives across all our communities in the UK.
With your help we can do so much more - please do give generously.
We know that by showing more diverse and inspirational content we will bring people and communities together - our channel really does change lives.
Help us share the stories that truly reflect our communities, and support under-represented film-makers and story-tellers.
We know that many UK viewers do not see a positive and accurate portrayal of diverse and under-represented communities in our media. The murder of George Floyd and the global Black Lives Matter protests have been a wake-up call.
Together TV (The Community Channel) has championed Black British, British Asian and Minority Ethnic storytelling and lives for years. We support independent filmmaking talent, improving representation and inspiring positive change. Many diverse filmmakers have had their first broadcast opportunity on our Channel.
Over 20m viewers in communities across the UK now watch our TV channel each year and we reach millions more through social media. We're growing fast.
We are proud that 27% of our viewers say they have changed their opinions about people and issues thanks to watching our channel, and 17% say we have motivated them to do more in their community. That’s over three-and-a-half million people we inspire to take positive action each year.
Many of our TV viewers are isolated, finding it difficult to go out or connect with others. This can be for all sorts of reasons - lack of money, physical and mental health issues, carer responsibilities, cultural barriers, and of course now the additional barriers of COVID. Many don’t have access to digital either.
The content we show inspires our viewers to connect with local groups and neighbours, creating change in their own lives and communities.
Now, and over the next year, times will be tough across our country – we urgently need to create positive community understanding and connections.
With your support we can do much more. We can show more empowering content, improve representation, reflect our viewers’ lives back to them and create positive understanding of lives, histories and communities across our country.
Film-makers of colour, and from other under-represented communities, struggle to have content broadcast across mainstream TV in the UK.
With your help, Together TV can showcase their content, giving them a platform to reach millions of people and boosting their creative careers too, supporting independent filmmaking talent and improving representation.
Your donation will enable us to show more diverse documentaries, short films and series made by, with and about Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, inspiring positive social change among our 20 million viewers.
Creating and growing this new fund will give us the resources to secure and premiere new programmes on Together TV that reflect our diverse inter-cultural lives and communities, and inspire new thinking, including documentaries, short films and potentially series.
Our small and dedicated team is working day and night to grow our audience and impact, but our budget is stretched.
New programming takes time and money to acquire and make ready for broadcast. Charitable funders in the UK are reluctant to fund media, which is why we, as the Trustees of this charitable TV channel, are coming together to ask for your help now.
This new fund will allow us to identify, acquire and broadcast a wide range of diverse content that would otherwise stay hidden and little seen. Much of the content we acquire, along with the content-makers and people in the programmes, will not be given a UK-wide television platform without us.
Where rights permit, we will also make programming available as 'catch-up' or on-demand through our own and partner platforms. We will celebrate the talent both making and featured in our new content via our newsletters, website, pr and social media.
Your much-needed donation will be put to use immediately. We'll keep you updated on what we are doing so that you can watch and share with your friends and family, knowing you've made a real difference to our viewers, our communities and to diverse content creators across the UK.

Your support means so much to us as trustees, and to our staff team. We will acknowledge everyone who supports this campaign on our website. We'll keep you updated so you can watch the content you make possible, and we'll invite you to special screenings, debates and events. And we'll tell you about how your donation helps change lives and communities across the UK.
Please give as much as you can to help us reach our target.
A whole-hearted thank you from all of the trustees, staff, volunteers and film-makers at Together TV, Caroline and the Trustees of Together TV
