Discover Welling is a community group which aims to help highlight all the good things about Welling as well as finding ways to help enhance the community spirit of Welling. We exist to build on what is good, not complain about things.
Since 2019, we have been organising the Christmas lights in Welling Town Centre as well as working with CC Events to provide the Christmas Sparkle. We have a targeting fundraising and sponsorship campaign for this in the Autumn. We also currently carry out several other activities, such as planting and weeding at the cannon, library and Bellegrove Road railway bridge, art installations and poppy displays over the remembrance period.
We have set up this Crowdfunder page as people have expressed an interest in contributing towards some of these projects and you can choose which project to support, or donate generally towards the group's projects. For our usual Crowdfunders such as the Christmas campaign, we offer rewards for sponsorship, but for this fundraiser, we are not doing specific rewards, you will just know that your contributions will go directly towards Welling projects to enhance Welling.
The main things that we are fundraising for are:
Christmas
We would love to have more Christmas lights in the town centre and be able to create other activities over the Christmas period
Artwork
We would love to have more artwork around Welling and create an art trail
Planting
We would love to continue to maintain the flowerbeds.
Poppies
We would love to increase the number of poppies that we display on lamp posts in the town centre over the remembrance period.
Community Fun Day
We would love to do another Community Fun Day and make it bigger and better
