Aim
Ensuring we are able to offer our services to disabled jobseekers throughout the UK and helping them reduce their reliance on benefits
The Disabled Workers Co-operative helps disabled people to help themselves by raising their independence by enabling them to take an active role in the economy achieving a a greater sense of self-worth as well as raising awareness of the contribution disabled people make to society.
Our two main projects.
On-line database of the skills, services and products disabled entrepreneurs have to offer. They are able to register their skills, products or services FREE on the Disabled Workers Database so that anyone can use the Database to find a disabled worker near them who is able to provide the service they are looking for.
Disabled Workers e-Jobs Portal gives employers the opportunity to actively encourage disabled applicants by promoting their vacancies FREE directly to disabled jobseekers and gives disabled job seekers a way of entering the job market by searching and apply for jobs in the confidence that their applications will be taken seriously.
Despite the Disability Discrimination Act, social inactivity and poverty is still high amongst disabled people which not only affects not themselves and their families but also the wider community. Our project enables disabled people to increase their earnings and raise their standard of living by finding employment.
