Aim

A fundraiser to cover the costs of a memorial street art mural in Anfield for Diogo Jota, and raise money for a charity.

Who are we?

My name is Paul Curtis.  I am a scouse street artist.  I have painted over 250 public artworks - including a number of LFC murals (funded by local businesses). I am a regular at Anfield and live just a couple of miles from the ground

Why are we crowdfunding?

Following the tragic and untimely death of Anfield favourite, Diogo Jota, it has been suggested that a mural should be painted in the Anfield area.  This mural will be for the fans, from the fans and painted by a fan.  We will also be donating funds to a charity (to be chosen) once the costs of the mural are covered.

Update:  Although the target amount has been raised already and the mural completed, we are still taking donations.  The money will go to the Diogo Foundation (or charities chosen by the family if the Foundation is not set up in the near future).

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money will be used to cover the costs of the mural, including the hire of cherry picker and the costs of materials.  If we exceed these costs, then the extra money raised will go to a charity (we are trying to find out what Diogo's chosen charities are at the moment).

Community impact

The death of Diogo and his brother, Andre, has shocked the football world.  The feeling of loss and grief in Liverpool is strong and the LFC fans feel like we have lost one of our own.  For that reason, we feel there is a real appetite to remember Diogo J in a tribute from the fans.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

Update on the Jota Foundation Collection (28/9/25)

I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the Jota Foundation collection. Your generous donations were the reason this whole initiative happened.  The mural resulted from your collective support, and the project's emphasis has, and will always be, focussed on community participation.

The funds are currently held in the Crowdfunder account by my request, as the “Jota Foundation” is not yet established.  For transparency, the donations remain in the Crowdfunder account for the time being.

Liverpool FC has been informed about the project and the donations and has communicated with the family.  As understood from phone calls, LFC is working to form a foundation in honour of Diogo and Andre.  This foundation is still at the formation stage, with legal, administrative, and family consultation ongoing.  I believe that the raised funds are intended for sports projects for children in Liverpool and Portugal.

Once the foundation is established, the money will be transferred accordingly. FYI, I believe that donations can continue to be made via Crowdfunder:

A metal plaque acknowledging that the project was led by fans and in memory of the two individuals is also planned for addition to the mural.  I will update as this progresses.
