The Poly & Falmouth History Archive Need You! Our computer systems are ageing, and we need your help to replace and improve them.

On the 18th September 2023 we'd raised £4,270 with 45 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Our computer systems are failing, and we need your help to replace and improve them!
Based at The Poly for 15 years, our dedicated Archive Volunteers have been digitising Falmouth’s social history. They have built up a wealth of photos, documents and maps stretching back 300 years and these are accessed regularly by organisations and local people conducting research into Falmouth’s fascinating past.
However our computer systems are now in desperate need of replacement if we are going to continue to offer this crucial service to our local community.
Can you help?
With your support we are hoping to raise 5k towards replacing and upgrading our building wide computer systems including (crucially) our now obsolete server. A project that will cost in the region of 9k overall.
Why Digitise?
Researchers can view digital copies of archive material without needing to handle them. They can also be used in exhibitions. This means popular items from a collection don't become worn and damaged from over-handling or being on long-term display. It also allows documents to be shared globally at the click of a button creating an accessible and dynamic database.
Help us safeguard the future of our Archives and Falmouth's social history!
