We're still collecting donations

On the 26th April 2021 we'd raised £35 with 3 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Gro-Organic's Dig-it Crew have been volunteering in the community since 2011. Following the impact of Covid-19 on people's wellbeing and mental health, we need to increase our capacity to support more people.

What We Do

Dig-it is fun, friendly and welcoming, giving adults impacted by mental health challenges the opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and improve their wellbeing.

Nurturing group leaders support crew members in enjoyable activities, including community gardening, chicken care, fruit, vegetable and flower growing and arts and crafts.

The produce grown in our community gardens is donated to social supermarkets, food banks, and residents.

"I have been coming to 'Dig-it' for four years now, and it has really helped me with my wellbeing... it gets me out the house, and I have lots of friends here."

Why We Need Your Help

Due to Covid-19 and the national and local lockdowns, more people than ever are struggling from the effects of isolation, lacking time outdoors and experiencing increased anxiety and depression.

We need urgent donations to run more sessions and purchase additional tools and equipment, allowing more people to join our crew.

Why We're Needed

Many adults with care or support needs find themselves isolated without a social network outside their immediate family and carers.

We provide an inviting space where we can help build people's confidence and skills, improve wellbeing and increase social connections.

All adults are welcome; whilst many of our crew have a mental health diagnosis or physical or learning disabilities, a formal diagnosis is not needed to join our crew.

We are here for anyone who would like support to meet new people, learn new skills, participate in activities, and volunteer in their community.

"Dig-It has really helped me to come out of my shell and gain confidence in my abilities. I always feel really positive after being with my Dig-It family."

Who We Are

The Dig-it crew is run by Gro-Organic CIC, a not for profit social enterprise focused on improving life opportunities, well-being and community cohesion in the most socially and economically disadvantaged communities within the West Midlands.

A leading mental health practitioner described Gro-Organic’s projects as “a trailblazing model for engagement in the community”.

We were thrilled to receive The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2019, the most prestigious award for the voluntary sector; it's the MBE equivalent for groups. All of the crew are so proud of this fantastic achievement.
