We're still collecting donations

On the 6th October 2020 we'd raised £2,000 with 59 supporters in 37 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

 New stretch target

Bigger plans for the future would be to extend the club and start to develop a Junior football section to ensure continuity for the long term future.

Diggle FC are aiming to secure their future!

As an amateur sports club of over 60 years, our plan is to continue offering participation in sport which we believe is a vital part of the Saddleworth community.

However, during the uncertain times we currently find ourselves in, we are looking for assistance to ensure the clubs security for the future.

Diggle FC – Club History

Diggle Football Club reformed in 1959 after a previous existence of Diggle A.F.C. had disbanded in 1955.

The club played its first two seasons in the Saddleworth League until its demise in 1962, before moving on to the Ashton League, Oldham Amateur League, South East Lancashire league before joining the Huddersfield & District league in 1993, where they currently play their football.

The club currently have 2 open age teams that compete in Huddersfield & District league Division 1 and Res Division 1 respectively and were awarded FA Adult Charter Standard Club status in 2008.

2020 has proved to be the most challenging time for everyone during the Covid-19 pandemic, and in a time when adult participation in grassroot sports is on the steady decline, our aim is

To continue to provide a good level of amateur football for the local community, continually improving performances and increase participation in local sport.

To bring adults (young & old) from all walks of life together to provide friendships, pride and values.

Continue to successfully integrate players from the crossover from Junior football to Senior open age football through good coaching and development.

Encourage participation to engage young players in sport and well-being.

Continue to raise standards on and off the pitch and maintain a high standard as a FA Charter standard Adult club.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic to the club has meant we have had to delay a number of planned club fundraising events that would of provided vital income to assist with our running costs for the coming season. Club social events such as the very popular Race Night and the well supported ‘Sportsman's Evening’ have obviously had to be put on hold due to the restrictions on entertainment and large gatherings and with no definite rescheduled dates possible at the moment.
Running costs for the season include pitch/training pitch fees, insurance, new equipment, laundry etc.… are covered through yearly club sign on fees and weekly playing subs, which cover the ever-increasing costs, but to maintain and improve standards additional fund raising is critical to a truly amateur club as ours.

Maintain and Improve!

Improve coaching standards to assist coaches/players to attain FA coaching qualifications.

Enrol further players/coaches onto FA First aid courses.

To ensure vital first aid resources and kits widely available.

To purchase additional matchday/training cleaning and sanitization equipment, in an effort to ‘Stop the Spread’ and sanitize all equipment after every training session and matches to ensure everyone’s safety.

What can we do for you?

We fully appreciate everyone is living in uncertain times during the pandemic and hope restrictions are eased as we look forward, so we want to offer something back for a donation, and for the sum of £30 we aim to make you a match ball sponsor for a designated Diggle FC match during the season.

For only £30 you’ll get ;-

 • Promoted on Social media, Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

• Invited to all Diggle FC matches and Club events.

 • Support a local amateur club of 60 years pedigree!

 • Any contributions and donations would be greatly valued as it helps to provide a worthwhile recreational activity for all those who participate.

We would like to thank you for taking the time in reading our story and if you are able to assist us with any form of donation it would be both greatly appreciated and hopefully your pledge to assisting a worthwhile community project and the future of Diggle FC.
