Purchasing new equipment for our allotment site and supporting vulnerable people to access the natural environment more easily.
Our amazing Dig for Victory site is a special place to grow crops and enjoy being in nature right on the edge of the coast path, looking out to sea. This site was once a WW2 Coastal Battery and the atmosphere there resonates well with both our Tri-Service veterans and the wider community who come to volunteer and use the beautiful outdoors to connect with nature and recover.
We tend to two acres of land and grow many crops which we then distribute amongst local families and this season have started to use surplus to make chutneys and oils. This food production has helped the group to learn about preserving , seed collection and sustainability in a safe and friendly environment.
We want to use the funding to buy more equipment to use at the site, such as bee hive, garlic and chilli growing and grow wildflowers to increase the pollinators.
