Aim
Help Didsbury Toc H RFC create flood defences that protect our community sports ground, and build long-term resilience to extreme weather.
On New Year's Day 2025, Didsbury Toc H RFC suffered devastating flooding when the River Mersey burst its banks. Club facilities, pitches and community spaces were submerged, causing extensive damage and disrupting activities for hundreds of local people.
For over 100 years, Didsbury Sports Ground has been at the heart of the community. Home to Didsbury Toc H RFC, it supports grassroots sport, wellbeing and social connection for more than 800 people each week.
While recovery efforts have helped restore the site, extreme weather events are becoming more frequent. We need a long-term solution.
Working with Save Our Grassroots
For every £1 raised, Save Our Grassroots will match it - so for example if you donate £100, they'll also donate £100!
The 'Save Our Grassroots' campaign is essential in funding critical improvements to pitch quality and resilience.
Where your money goes
Funds raised will go directly towards two pieces of work:
Pitch restoration — Vertidrain treatment across both rugby pitches, application of 60 tons of sports-grade sand, and full reseeding to restore playing surfaces to a safe, playable standard.
Nature improvements — Planting and habitat boxes to help "nature max" the site, working with the environment to begin to strengthen the ground's natural flood resilience.

Our vision is to transform a flood-affected site into a greener, more resilient community space where sport, nature and people can thrive together.
