Help Didsbury Lawn Tennis Club cut carbon and stay warm by funding an energy-efficient heat pump for our community clubhouse
🌱 A Greener Future for Didsbury Lawn Tennis Club
We’re Didsbury Lawn Tennis Club—a not-for-profit, volunteer-run sports club in South Manchester. While tennis is our core activity, our clubhouse is a year-round hub for community connection, hosting everything from junior coaching and yoga to table tennis, bridge, chess, foodbank events, and local birthday parties.
🔥 The Problem: Outdated Heating
Right now, we rely on four ageing electric heaters. They’re expensive to run, slow to heat the space, and sometimes left on overnight—posing a fire risk and wasting energy.
We’ve improved our roof insulation and are adding curtains, but the heaters remain a major issue for comfort, safety and sustainability.
💡 The Solution: An Energy-Efficient Heat Pump
We’re raising funds to install an air-to-air heat pump. These systems are 3–4 times more efficient than standard electric heating. They use less energy, heat rooms more effectively, and include a programmable timer to prevent waste.
📌 Cost: £6,900
With this upgrade, we expect to reduce our heating costs by around two-thirds, lower our carbon footprint, and create a safer, warmer, more welcoming clubhouse that can be used throughout the winter by the whole community.
💙 British Gas Energy for Tomorrow
