Aim

To install an accessible toilet in the ground floor space of our community hub and widen the door into our lounge area for wheelchair users.

Diaphero Collective CIC is a new community hub for all ages, right in the heart of Melton Mowbray. We are driven by inclusivity and accessibility, and want everyone to feel welcome. We particularly want our hub to be a safe space for neurodiverse, disabled and LGBTQ+ communities... But we can't truly be accessible and inclusive without an accessible toilet - that's where you come in!

We're asking for donations and funding, in return for some amazing rewards, so we can build an accessible toilet on our ground floor. Without this, we can't welcome a large portion of the people we want to serve and welcome into our community hub. It also means we can't run simultaneous sessions downstairs and on the first floor, until we have our accessible toilet installed.

Who we are and services we provide:

Diaphero Collective CIC was founded by husband and wife, Jack and Holly who shared a vision of running a community hub to share their 20+ years of combined experience, skills and passion for supporting neurodivergent and disabled people through creativity, gaming and alternative provisions. We have teamed up with therapists, teachers, tutors, practitioners, volunteers and community groups who are just as excited as us about opening.

We will be offering:

  • Specialist Creative Provisions for EOTAS learners in small groups (Holly is a registered EOTAS provider with the Leicestershire County Council)
  • Key Stage 2 Maths and English for home educated learners with a qualified teacher, who also knows Level 3 BSL & SSE, in small groups of 6. Open to hearing and deaf learners
  • Specialist Art workshops for neurodivergent and disabled home educated learners
  • Creative workshops for disabled adults
  • Affordable Community Studio and Co-working Space on a Friday
  • Evening creative workshops for adults
  • After school clubs including art, model making and miniatures, and tabletop gaming
  • Weekly wargaming club with Melton Tabletop Community (formerly known as Melton Middle Earth Community, now part of the Diaphero Collective)
  • Weekly Pokémon hobby and hangout nights
  • LGBTQIA+ craft club
  • Day time miniature and model making club for all ages
  • Dungeons and Dragons campaigns for hearing and deaf adults and young people
  • In-house therapists
  • Themed RPG and wargaming loft (coming in 2027)
  • Parent and carer social and support groups
  • Men's mental health groups
  • Opportunities for other businesses, community groups and charities to use our space

How we've already made the space accessible and inclusive:

  • Founded by neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ directors.
  • Staff with experience supporting people with a wide range of disabilities, mental health needs and communication styles.
  • We have a portable ramp that we can put out for people using wheelchairs, scooters, walkers and other aids.
  • We have four electronic 8x4 ft tables in our main ground floor space, so you can adjust the height to suit whether you're seated on one of our chairs, in your wheelchair, or want to stand whilst working, learning or playing.
  • Our 8x4 ft tables seat 4 or more people with ample room around them, to offer plenty of space for carers to accompany you if needed.
  • We have adjustable LED lighting on our tables, as well as new dimmable LED ceiling lighting coming soon.
  • Clear access to the back of the main room, where the accessible toilet will be, with no handles on our storage units to avoid catching yourself on them.
  • A relaxing lounge space linked to our main room. This can be used by parents and carers to relax in whilst waiting for people during sessions, giving attendees privacy but peace of mind.
  • Lockable cabinet and fridge for storing medication (only staff have the key and you will sign your medication in and out).
  • Free tea, coffee and squash (alternative milks also provided) for attendees, parents and carers - one less thing for you to have to buy or think about.
  • Warm and inviting space without being over-stimulating.
  • Team member who knows BSL.
  • Our tea and coffee facilities are on a height adjustable table so wheelchair users can help themselves. Staff are on hand to make drinks for anyone needing assistance.

How we'll be making our community hub more accessible and inclusive very soon:

  • Partially frosted windows to give our attendees more privacy whilst still letting plenty of light in.
  • LED dimmable ceiling lighting.
  • Staff to begin a BSL course to make our space more accessible to the deaf community.
  • Staff to begin a Makaton course to make our space more accessible to guests with communication and speech challenges.
  • Opening the hub as a free quiet space during town events such as Bonfire Night and the Christmas Light Switch On.

What your donation goes towards:

  • Installation of a wheelchair accessible W/C with insulated stud walls, lights, wash basin, hand dryer and appropriate grab rails and accessible W/C fittings.
  • Widening of the door to our lounge, drinks facilities and fridge so wheelchair users can enter the space easily.
  • Supply and fitting of a large water heater to supply the accessible toilet, upstairs toilet and upstairs kitchenette.
  • All materials, fittings and labour to ensure a complete and compliant project.
  • Paint for final decoration upon completion.

We'll keep you updated with our progress and any additional funds raised will go towards the development of our community hub and services.

We've already received so much interest and can't wait to welcome people in to our space in November 2026. Once we've reached our fundraising goal, we trust that we'll be an asset to Melton Mowbray and surrounding areas, as we'll be able to welcome more people and offer all of our services.

As a thank you for your support, we're offering a wide range of rewards, most of which are exclusive to this fundraiser:

Our luxury reward is the Mythical Reward (only 5 available!) which consists of a 6 hour 1-1 art workshop with Holly OR a miniature hobby masterclass with award-winning painter Jack Darlington AND a V.I.P Annual Pass* for 1 person to our clubs** and community studio.

Our Legendary Reward offers a 3 hour workshop or masterclass, and we have other amazing rewards for smaller donations including exclusive dice, notebooks, t-shirts and vouchers.
