To raise much needed funds to ensure the Survival of our club for all our players and prospective new players when Rugby League returns
Who Are WeDewsbury Celtic RLFC is one of the oldest amateur Rugby League Clubs in existence formed in 1879 by a group of Irish immigrants living in the Daw Green area. From those early days Celtic have retained their association with Dewsbury Irish Nash and now boast 12 teams of players aged 3 to 40 ! From Leprechauns to NCL Open age players every player matters equally to us. As a community club we have an inclusive policy at Dewsbury Celtic and every one is welcome to join our club regardless of age gender, ethnicity or ability

The Covid-19 Pandemic has impacted on us all throughout the past year and grassroots Rugby League has been no exception! For some players, it has been the longest time away from their team mates they have ever experienced, and they are all undoubtedly missing being part of a team environment at training and on match days!
January 2021 was meant to be the start of Pre-Season for most community Rugby League clubs, however the UK was put back into yet another lock down which meant teams yet again were unable to join up with their team mates and participate in the sport they love! Along with limited training and playing, the past year has not allowed the club to fund raise whatsoever. This funding will ensure we meet our running costs and are able to buy equipment required for the season to keep our community club running and surviving.

Dewsbury Celtic want to be there for our players, volunteers and supporters at the end of this pandemic. To do this we have to meet our financial commitments and ensure we are viable to meet running costs associated with the running of a large club.In addition Funds we would normally raise through fund raising activities were cancelled last year and this continues again into this year. Therefore this crowdfunder gives us the opportunity to replace lost funding and put the club in a more viable position to continue to provide our club and the community in general including local schools with a much-needed hub where children and adults can participate in sport and gain all the benefits of being part of such a prestigious historic Rugby League club.

During the brief return to play the Committee ensured that all Covid -19 safety measures and resources were in place to enable teams to take to the field and train in a safe environment. The joy on the faces of both players and parents was priceless.

Teams have coped in a variety of ways during 2020 and 2021 some have continued to train utilising platforms such as zoom and social social media has been invaluable with some teams putting together videos of passing the ball in their own homes. Nothing can replace the benefits of social interaction and team sport; the ingenuity of our teams is refreshing and the latest idea from our U14s is a challenge for each of the 20 players to embark on a 28-day challenge to run the full length of the UK from Land’s End to John O’Groats which equates to a total of 874 miles. Therefore, all we ask is to show the players some support by liking and sharing the page and donate as much as you can to support them along the way. If other teams wish to accept the challenge please feel free to get in touch.

As a club we value and are proud of each and every one of our players. We not only play rugby we are part of our local community and fundraise for a lot of local charities and causes. The players resilience during this pandemic has been astounding! Adapting to the extra rules as they unfolded and retaining their team spirit. Our players are the most important asset of our club. Forget kit, equipment and facilities; without the players, their team, and community spirit the club would be nothing! Lets do our great historic club and players proud by rallying together and supporting this crowdfunder. Please donate what you can afford and please like and share the page widely and keep our great club's history going for may generations to come!
