Dereham Cricket Club Net Project
Dereham, Norfolk, United Kingdom
Aim
Dereham Cricket Club proposes the development of a new cricket net facility to enhance training opportunities for players of all ages
Who are we?
Dereham Cricket Club is a long-established, community-focused cricket club in Norfolk, providing competitive and recreational cricket opportunities for players of all ages. The club operates multiple senior and junior teams, delivers coaching and player development programmes, and serves as an important sporting and social hub for the Dereham community.
Why are we crowdfunding?
How Dereham Cricket Club Will Spend the Grant Funding for the Cricket Net Project
The new facility will provide a dedicated training area for Dereham Cricket Club's senior and junior sections, increasing training capacity, supporting player development, and reducing pressure on the main playing square. The facility will also be available for coaching programmes, school partnerships, community cricket initiatives, and recreational use, ensuring long-term benefit to the wider Dereham community.
The investment will create a lasting asset for the club, helping to grow participation in cricket and improve the quality of coaching and practice opportunities for current and future members.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Dereham Cricket Club will use the grant funding to design, construct, and equip a new cricket net training facility that will provide a safe, high-quality practice environment for players of all ages and abilities.
The funding will be allocated towards:
Groundworks and Site Preparation
- Excavation and levelling of the site.
- Installation of drainage and foundations to ensure year-round usability.
Cricket Net Structure
- Purchase and installation of high-quality steel framework.
- Installation of durable cricket netting to ECB-recommended specifications.
- Safety features to protect players, coaches, and spectators.
Playing Surface
- Installation of all-weather artificial cricket practice wickets and run-ups.
- Preparation of a stable base to maximise performance and longevity.
Fencing and Access Improvements
- Perimeter fencing where required.
- Safe access paths around the facility.
- Accessibility improvements for players and visitors.
Project Management and Professional Services
- Site surveys and design work.
- Contractor installation and associated project delivery costs.
Community impact
The proposed cricket net facility at Dereham Cricket Club will deliver significant benefits to the local community by increasing access to sport, improving health and wellbeing, and creating opportunities for people of all ages to participate in cricket. The club already serves a wide range of junior and senior players through its established playing and coaching programmes
