First of all Happy New Year despite everything and thank you for your support in 2019.

As we fight on into 2020,  a BBC video has resurfaced reminding people of the time when Iain Duncan Smith, the former leader of the Conservative party (who has just received a knighthood), gave an interview in which he split EU citizens into "the worthy" and "low value people".

We are not making a party political point, but democracy is about treating people as equals.

It may well be that Ian Duncan Smith's attitude is the key to understanding what happened in the European elections when 1.7 million EU citizens as well as many Britons abroad were systematically denied their vote.

That's why we will continue our fight for a public inquiry into #DeniedMyVote. We must also protect the democratic rights of #the5million. 

Will EU citizens in the UK will still have the right to vote and stand in local elections post Brexit ow will the Government take that right away?

What can be done to make sure the government keeps its promise to abolish the 15 year rule which excludes Britons abroad from voting in General elections?

As we head in 2020, we want to be in the strongest position we can be to fight the battles that lie ahead.

Before Christmas I wrote to ask you to join New Europeans as a member if you have not yet done so, and I wold like to ask this of you again today.

This is one of our key recruiting weekends in the year, and with the unwitting help of Sir Iain Duncan Smith we have had many new sign ups.

We really do need as many more members as possible to join if we are going to be strong enough to stand up to what lies ahead.

We are entering a period which we believe will see a continuing erosion of our democratic rights and further attempts to silence the voices of EU Citizens and other so-called "low value" people.

Our voices is strongest when  we are many and when we stand together.

That's why I am asking you once again to consider joining New Europeans today.
