Aim

To stage an inclusive production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, giving students of all ages a professional, creative, fun experience

🍭 Who We Are
Denbigh School serves around 1,800 students and families as part of the Alliance Schools Trust. In July 2026, we will stage our first large-scale school production since 2019: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This is far more than a show. It is a chance for over 100 young people to step into something extraordinary; to perform, create, lead, and discover what they are capable of. Through this Crowdfunder, we are inviting our alumni, wider community, and everyone who believes in the life-changing power of the arts to help us bring this ambitious and inclusive project to life.

🌟 Why This Matters
This production will involve over 100 students from multiple year groups, working together across performance, design, technical theatre, and production roles. For some, this will be their first time on a large stage. For others, it will be their first opportunity to shine behind the scenes. For many of our students, opportunities like this can be transformational. Building confidence, communication, resilience, teamwork, and a sense of belonging that can shape futures far beyond school. At Denbigh School, we believe the performing arts should stand proudly alongside academic success. Every child deserves the chance to be seen, heard, and inspired, regardless of financial circumstance.

Over the two years, we have worked tirelessly to remove barriers to participation by:

  • Providing National Theatre Connections Festival opportunities at no cost to families
  • Launching our first LAMDA examination programme with free training
  • Offering full support for Pupil Premium students and keeping opportunities affordable for all

These experiences do more than teach performance, they raise aspirations, unlock confidence, and create memories that can last a lifetime.

🎶 About the Production
Our licensed Broadway production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will unite students across:

  • Acting and ensemble performance
  • Set, costume, and prop design
  • Lighting, sound, and stage management
  • Front-of-house and production support

This project is designed to be ambitious, inclusive, and genuinely transformative — giving students a safe, supportive environment in which to grow creatively, socially, and personally.

💷 Our Fundraising Goal
The total cost of staging this production is just under £13,000, covering:

  • Licensing and performance rights
  • Costumes, set, and props
  • Lighting and sound equipment
  • Orchestration and music resources
  • Marketing

🍬 Our Progress So Far
Thanks to the incredible dedication of our students, staff, and supporters, we have already raised:

  • £6,000 through talent shows, showcases, and fundraising events
  • £4,000 projected through ticket sales

We now need to raise our final £3,000 to make this vision a reality.
