Aim

Our aim is to establish democratically the true fraction of the population who wish to rejoin the EU

There is now evidence that the 2016 UK EU Referendum was arguably not democratic, and that the vote to leave the EU was most certainly not a majority vote of all voting-age UK Citizens, and it is also now known that crimes were committed to help the EU leave campaign procure the EU leave vote on 23 June 2016.

Yet the marginal , questionable, and arguably undemocratic vote was then apparently mis-used by Mrs May and her government as her  basis to Notify Article 50 in March 2017,  and thereby withdraw the UK from the EU ,  causing untold and continuing societal and financial harm to the UK. In this context it is worth reading Mrs May's Notification Letter to Donald Tusk dated 29 March 2017.

Current polling shows us that a clear majority of voters in the UK now consider that leaving the EU was a very serious  economic and societal mistake , and also that a majority now wish to rejoin the EU .

Somewhat surprisingly,  the larger political parties in the UK are not - as yet - prepared to confront the above issue, apparently for "political" reasons,  and we believe it will be most helpful to the people of the UK as a whole to organise and run a democratic but informal People's Vote so as to quantify the actual support there is to reverse Brexit.

A new website now under construction  will ask every voter to answer the very simple question

" Would you like the UK to rejoin the EU ? "

or to abstain.

People will be able to reply to the question with a " yes" or a "no"  or " abstain " at the site , and we will verify each response in the same way as is done for Petitions to the UK Parliament, by asking respondents to note their age , their citizenship and their postcode. The site will publish a real-time record of yes's , no's  and abstains .

We will report the results of the People’s Democratic Referendum to the UK and the EU Parliaments on 31 December 2024 ,with a request that both Parliaments carefully consider the stated wishes of the people of the UK.

We estimate that the cost of administration of the People's Democratic Referendum will become significant only if millions of citizens choose to participate.

We are cognisant of the fact that some of us in the UK have been very badly affected economically by Brexit and subsequent government mismanagement,  so rather than asking every  citizen to "pay to vote", as it were, we will crowdfund the administrative costs of the Referendum, and that is the purpose of this new Crowdfunder , which should be viewed as an attempt to help restore UK democracy on the very simple and transparent basis of one citizen one vote.
