To provide hot & ready-to-heat meals to those in need and ensure everyone has access to delicious & nutritious food during COVID and beyond.
Last year we gathered furloughed chefs to provide over 75,000 meals to people in need in our local community. We were the first responders to a need for food in our area and were able to provide our meals using our three pillars of community, dignity and sustainability.
Unfortunately, the need for food is still growing and so this year we want to, we need to, continue keeping our local communities fed. One of our key aims for 2021 is to work with the local community to develop, fund and deliver a regular provision of ready-to-heat meals to support those living in financial and food poverty. To do this, we need your help.
As well as providing our homemade ready meals to take away, we will also use our food truck to provide people with hot meals. This will ensure that even those without equipment or energy to reheat food are still receiving the vital food they need to survive.
Our meals are prepared by young displaced chefs and early school leavers on our Apprenticeship scheme overseen by our EFS staff Chefs who train these young people. The meals are freshly made using local, seasonal ingredients and will include a range of food styles giving people the option to try new flavours or stick with what they know.
By doing what we do best - providing food - we are not only ensuring people have food to survive but are freeing up local organisations to have the time & capacity to provide the support they do best. We fully believe in partnership working and our food truck will be parked at other organisations to ensure people can conveniently access the food & other support. Through this project, we are building lasting networks between ourselves, food professionals, people needing help and vital lifeline services.
So please, donate what you can. Every donation means a meal for someone who would have otherwise gone without.
