Aim

To raise funds in honour of Chris Waterhouse for a defibrillator at Waterhouse's Quality Food shop, Cheadle Hulme, to support the community

We lost our Chris to a long hard battle of kidney failure after a cardiac arrest on New Year’s Eve. 44 is no age and we miss him dearly. He leaves behind his 2 young children, partner and step daughter. He was a loved son, brother, father and friend.

The survival rate for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is approximately 10% overall, but this varies significantly based on response time and intervention.

However, when a defibrillator is used quickly, survival rates can jump dramatically to 50-70% if defibrillation occurs within the first 3-5 minutes of collapse. The key is timing: for every minute that passes without defibrillation, survival chances decrease by about 7-10%.

This is why public access defibrillators (AEDs)  are so critical—they can be the difference between life and death before emergency medical services arrive.
