A 24-hour accessible AED portable defibrillator for Deucoch.
Hello everyone,
We hope this finds you all good and looking forward to the upcoming Deucoch season (not long to go!).
We're reaching out to you all for a cause that's close to our hearts - quite literally ❤️. We're aiming to make a potentially life-saving addition to Deucoch…
A 24-hour accessible AED portable defibrillator.
Early defibrillation, before emergency services arrive, can help double a person’s chances of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. However, in the UK, defibrillation is received in less than 1 out of 10 cases. Chances of survival decrease by up to 10% for every minute that passes without treatment.
While we hope it's something that never needs to be used, having this equipment on hand could potentially save a life and provide us all a little peace of mind.
Sadly, we've become all too aware of instances where having such a device close by could have made a big difference. We've set up this fundraising page to help us secure a portable defibrillator, along with an outside storage unit. Any funds raised over the target will go towards ongoing maintenance and replacement equipment (batteries / pads etc).
Ruth has generously kickstarted our efforts with a pledge of £250 - thank you Ruth!

Both AEDs and CPR play integral roles in saving lives during cardiac emergencies. To complement our AED acquisition, the British Heart Foundation offers free RevivR online CPR training, requiring just 15 minutes of your time:

We are by no means experts, but have organised one which we maintain for our local sports club and so are aware of the ongoing maintenance costs. We are very happy to take advice from anyone who has more experience about these things - please get in touch!
We’ve estimated we will need to raise approx £1,800 to purchase a fully automatic defibrillator from the British Heart Foundation, with a child switch (lower setting so it could also be used on a child) along with an outside storage box to protect it from the elements.
Once we've secured our portable AED, the plan is to register it with The Circuit the National Defibrillator Network, ensuring its inclusion in a nationwide registry accessible to emergency services.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference. Let's come together as a community and make this happen!
Thank you in advance for your support.
Many thanks, Duncan, Emma, Harry & Lily (pitch 35!)
