Woodwork group and Men/Women's shed Getting out once a week socialising, make new friends whilst sharing your skills and learning new ones

The building work is well under way, the work areas will be finished this week!

Starting a woodwork group and Men/Women's shed project in Derby.   (March 2018)

We are starting Men/Womens in sheds group, based in Derby.

The Men's Shed Project helps retired men & women to get out the house to socialise, share and learn new skills in a community environment.

Based on the Australian concept, "sheds" encourage groups of Men & Women get together for a laugh and chat, the group or shed decide what ideas they want to work on, they can be individual projects or work together on a larger idea, similar groups have been set up around the uk as community facilities for older persons.  Woodwork, Metalwork and DIY Skills or just having a place to drop in to, may be say hello, have a cuppa and chat, this is aimed to take place once a week.

The aim is to get members to come for a morning at first. Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays are some days I have in mind, depending on the responses we get.

We would also like to set up a new woodwork group along with the "shed"group for adults and young people aimed at beginners but open to all ages, sexes or with less able and limited abilities.

If you have your own hobby ideas such as bird boxes, wooden toys, clocks, hanging ornaments, ideas for the garden, we will be glad to help.

We can also teach you basic DIY such as putting up shelves, building flat pack furniture, changing a plug, plumbing fixes.

Craftspeople or hobbyists also welcome, you can bring your own tools and materials.

Also the Woodwork Group I'm starting needs any Wood, Tools, Power Tools and donations.

Any wood/items you may have spare in your sheds, please don't send it to tip Please help if you can.
