Please help Willowhayne Records to record the début CD of cellist Yelian He and pianist Yasmin Rowe, collectively known as "Y2."
This is a CD that Yelian and Yasmin have always wanted to record. The programme for this CD comprises:
Mendelssohn: Cello Sonata No.2 in D major, Op.58
Kapustin: Burlesque; Nearly Waltz; Elegy
Piazzolla: Le Grand Tango
The recording will be complemented with the following virtuoso solo items:
Schumann / Liszt: Widmung, for solo piano
Henryson: Black Run; On a day like this, for solo cello (world première recordings)
The recording will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Hereford, UK on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd February 2017.
Y-Squared has been the winning formula for both Yelian He and Yasmin Rowe since 2008. The name represents not only dedication towards performing the greatest repertoire both old and new, but also embodies a discipline to explore the depth of communication between 2 artists on stage.
Y-Squared has released two brand new music videos of Chopin’s Cello Sonata 3rd movement and Nikolai Kapustin’s Burlesque for Piano and Cello in 2016 – shot in London, which was commissioned by the City Music Foundation. Full details and videos are available on the Y-Squared website (www.y-squared.com) or on YouTube.
An international prize winner, Y-Squared gave the 1st prize winning performance in the 2009 Royal Over-Seas League String Competition in London and was the Grand prize and Audience prize winner of the 2014 Australian Cello Awards competition in Sydney.
Their performances always consist of both the staples of the cello and piano repertoires as well as extended works that reflect their easy-going and hardworking personalities. Recently they have performed at Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Concert Hall as well as around Europe, Asia and Australia in concert halls and events such as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Brighton Festival, Adelaide International Cello Festival and Woodend Winter Arts Festival.
