Hi my name is Georgia and I'm a film student in my final year!
This is a short film detailing a young woman’s battle to rediscover her voice after being silenced by a justice system that has failed to convict her offender due to the fact he is a powerful and well respected member of society. The film will make comment on the flaws in our judicial system, and how it allows people of power and high status to evade conviction (inspired by such real life examples like by the Dr Ford and Judge Kavanaugh case).
Synopsis: A woman returns to her hotel room following a court trial in which her public figure offender is found not guilty. As she is left alone to contemplate what this now means for her, a series of symbolic visions ensue to demonstrate her struggle in facing what has happened.
I have always felt very strongly about the state of our judicial system, the way it frequently fails to bring justice to those who have broken the law and committed crimes against others. This is particularly pertinent in celebrity culture where people of a high position of power have often evaded the law due to their status. Having seen the way in which the system operates first hand - often favouring the offender - I wanted to shed light on how the failures of the system can impact the lives of a victim, but also provide an overarching message to survivors of abuse who haven’t received the justice they deserve that they have the power to take back control of their lives, their minds and their happiness.
I plan to use the money I raise to fund:
Hiring of the two locations - a hotel room for the day and a warehouse for half a day, props and lots of them, catering for my cast and crew, travel expenses for my actors to travel to the locations, funding for my composer to create a soundtrack.
