Aim
Four people, and those they care about, explore the many sides to battling an addiction recovery while they try to make it through one day.
We are Pathway Productions and we are crowdfunding for our short film 'Day by Day'
'Day by Day' is a snapshot, moment-in-the-life-of short film about four addicts who are attempting to get through the day, one of many, on their rocky roads to recovery. 
Who are we?
Pathway Productions was formed in April 2022, brought together by the National Youth Film Academy. Every one of us connected right away with our stories of struggle and strife living in Britain. That is why a story about battling against invisible forces is something that resonates strongly with each of us to some capacity. This means we understand the level of sensitivity that a story like this should be handled with and, by way of your help, we can turn that into reality. There are many celebrities that can be brought to mind who've been not only affected by their addictions, but also had their lives taken by them; Amy Winehouse, Marilyn Monroe, Jim Morrison, to name a few. We are aiming to create a message which brings hope to those struggling with addiction and show them that they are, above all else, seen.
Our film
‘Day by Day’ explores key moments in the lives of four addicts on their individual journeys to recovery. A spyglass into their relatively universal struggles, the theme of the film allows us to empathise with the particular realities of those affected by this issue.
We accompany the characters as they navigate the challenges that arise throughout their day, each bound to circumstance: the impossible fulfilment of external expectations; the harrowing heaviness of profound grief; the permanent loneliness of social estrangement; and the ultimate inevitability of loss. Their character, as well as their social and professional environments, will prove key in determining the choices they will make as they encounter feelings of neglect, helplessness and even defeat. Ultimately, the possible existence of hope is explored as an instigator of change in their search for purpose. The path to self acceptance inevitably precedes the journey to recovery.
Our film aims to challenge over-romanticised representations of the subject of addiction and those who suffer from it. Its purpose is to present the ever-changing faces behind this struggle, to offer a sense of hope and visibility to those on their path to recovery, and any who hope to understand them. Hardships and setbacks continue to be integral parts of this recurring process, where one's worth is not measured in successes or failures, but in our willingness to keep pushing forward, from wherever we stand.
