We're making a new play about actor, David Grindley, his experiences in the theatre with cerebral palsy, playing July 2022.
The Space Theatre is creating an in-house production, David's Play, playing from the 26th - 31st July. Two performances will also be livestreamed and be available to watch for two weeks after the end of the run.
About The Show
David Grindley lives on the Isle of Dogs and has decided that he will star in a show.
Adam Hemming is powerless to stop David, even if he wanted to.
David’s Play is a backstage comedy about being an actor with cerebral palsy and David’s methods of communication. It explores friendship, acceptance, and (of course) the magic of theatre.
Space Productions at the Space
The Space Theatre presents theatre that's inclusive, supportive, courageous and creative. It is a well-loved East London Fringe venue which has been going for over 25 years!
Through it's in-house company, Space Productions, they have brought classic tales such as Nicholas Nickleby and Little Women to new audiences and given voice to emerging playwrights through its Foreword Festival of new writing.
Now, the theatre is dedicating its effort to creating play with a person who has been a part of the Space's community for a very long time!
This show is truly home-grown, and we need your help to bring it to the stage in July.
Accessibility
We are keen to make this show as accessible as possible. Aside from the accessibility of the building itself (our performance space is wheelchair accessible) we will provide captioning at all performances.
Two of the shows will be livestreamed for those unable to attend the theatre in-person, and the show will also be available for two weeks on demand.
