Dave Pegler suffered a massive stroke and now needs specialist neurological support, which is not available on the NHS, to aid his recovery.
Dave Pegler is a musical 'tour de force'! He is the founder and powerhouse behind the Bath-based Park Lane Big Band. Since their inception in 2000, Dave and his band have been a huge supporters of numerous charity events, helping raise huge sums of money whilst bringing a great deal of musical joy at the same time. Music has always been his great passion and during his 40 years of work he has taught many generations of Bathonians the love of all forms of music fostered through his skill, knowledge, encouragement and patience. I remember well meeting him for the first time when as a young man he gave my daughter saxophone lessons and was immediately impressed by his dedication and support.

Sadly, at the beginning of the year, and just as he was about to celebrate his first days of retirement, Dave suffered a life-changing cerebral stroke whilst on holiday with his wife and friends in his beloved Italian Alps. Thanks to the skill of the medical staff in Italy and to his incredible will to fight, Dave made it through several dire prognoses received both in Italy and, when deemed fit to travel, in Wales. Sad to say the Welsh NHS found that after six months of hospitalisation they were unable to provide any further for his needs, thus necessitating that Dave receives this care in a private rehabilitation centre.
Dave's needs are complex and only a few rehabilitation centres can cater to his requirements, none of which are in Wales. His wife, Lucy, has however managed to find a suitable centre based in England but as funding was refused from NHS Wales, they are having to fund the costs themselves.
After his 21 years of constant charity fundraising, we now ask that you find it in your hearts to repay his dedication and support to many charities, by contributing to a fund that will help towards the costs of his rehabilitation at this extraordinary centre: every £450 raised will cover the costs for one day. Please help give Dave the chance to live to the utmost of his capabilities after such a truly heart-breaking event. He has already beaten every single medical odd thrown at him, please help him to now do even more.
After many months of being unable to talk, Dave is now speaking and I have been fortunate to have had a very brief conversation with him, during which he expressed his appreciation for the support and help.
The Rotary Club of Bath has benefited greatly from Dave’s support over the years; it is Dave’s enthusiasm that brought Bath Rotary Club’s Christmas Collection to life when he and his band performed in Stall Street.

All the money raised will be used to fund his rehabilitation.
Lucy and Dave want to send a huge thanks to all those who have pledged so far but please don't stop donating.
