I'm Dave Nellist, a socialist former MP standing as an anti-austerity, anti-war TUSC candidate in the general election for Coventry East.
Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) standing in 40 constituencies
Will you be glad to see the back of the Tories – but have no enthusiasm for Keir Starmer's Labour? Do you feel like we're paying more for things that don't work properly, yet the rich are getting richer all the time? Feel let down by all the main parties on Gaza, on the Post Office and infected blood scandals, on housing, on the NHS and local services?
I agree. Keir Starmer's Labour will be the next government, but that won't be the change we need!
In Coventry East, and 39 other constituencies, we are campaigning to elect a socialist working-class fighter who will fight for all the radical issues Jeremy Corbyn fought for, but Keir Starmer has dropped.
If elected again, I would fight for every possible improvement for working people. In this rich country, everyone should be able to afford a warm home, have a well-paid job, and have access to free education and health while protecting our environment. If the system can't afford that, we need to change the system along socialist lines to one that works for us.
The gap between the rich and the rest of us has never been wider, but the difference between the major parties has never been narrower. Working-class people need a new party that stands up for us. And a new way of running the economy to benefit the majority, not the billionaires.
I was a socialist Labour MP from 1983 to 1992. Labour expelled me for playing a leading role in the mass non-payment of Margaret Thatcher's Poll Tax. From 1998 to 2012, I was a Socialist Party city councillor in Coventry. I have always believed that elected political office should be the same as being elected a shop steward. So, for all my years in public office, I have only taken the same wage as a skilled local factory worker. I would do the same again today.
The money raised by this appeal will be used for my election campaign in Coventry East. Anything raised over and above what is needed for that campaign will be donated to the Socialist Party afterwards so that we can continue campaigning beyond the election for the same issues I am raising today.

Important - please read:
There are rules that govern donations of more than £50 during elections.
By donating to my campaign, you understand and accept the following:
These rules do not cover donations under £50. If you donate more than £50 (or multiple contributions that add up to more than £50), Crowdfunder may ask for your details to confirm your name is included on your local electoral register. If we can't confirm you are eligible to donate, we will refund your donation.
The money you use to donate must be from your own funds. If you are donating from a trade union or similar organisation, please contact me for more information on how to do that.
Your name and the amount over £50 you have donated will be included in the candidate return submitted after the election. This information will be available for public inspection on request, although your home address will not be made public.
Thank you.
