If we are successful in raising our initial target we will use the extra money raised to do a live recording of the Dark and Bright music featuring the original cast and orchestra from the February production.
We will also use an extra funds to live stream our February production ensuring that we can reach as many audience members as possible during these challenging times.
ENCORE Youth Theatre are a multi award-winning theatre company based in Winchester and specialise in all aspects of musical theatre. Established in 1981, and celebrating our 40th anniversary this year, ENCORE brings together like-minded young people (aged 10-18) from Winchester and the surrounding areas to produce an annual musical that is performed at the Theatre Royal Winchester.
We are a not-for-profit, Community Interest Company and are dedicated to providing our members support and training through access to high-quality theatre experiences.
We want our members to achieve their greatest potential, growing as unique individuals whilst developing performance and interpersonal skills. We provide them with essential structure, positive mental wellness, focus and musical theatre training in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.

The past year has been incredibly challenging for so many people both personally and professionally. As a creative organisation that generates a large portion of income through ticket sales, typically performing to approximately 1000+ audience members per year, we have had to change the way we usually work to ensure that we achieve the best outcome for our entire company.
We are aiming to raise at least £5000 through a combination of fundraising platforms, including Crowdfunder, and through advert sponsorship in our anniversary programme.
It has remained imperative to us that we continue providing our much-needed service to our cast and crew whilst simultaneously finding new ways to alleviate the financial pressures particularly owing to reduced audience capacity and the inevitable reduction to our annual projected ticket sales.
The licensing fees for our annual productions is a large percentage of our budget and so whilst 'thinking outside the box' to come up with inventive ways to reduce our annual expenditure, we revisited an idea that has been previously discussed but not yet implemented and from there, our project was born...

This brand-new life-affirming musical follows one young man’s journey from deepest feelings of loss and despair, to a powerful celebration of family, friendship, and love. Using the words and experiences of the cast itself, ENCORE Youth Theatre has created a breath-taking contemporary and visceral story which, together with a scorchingly original score, gives a voice to every young person living through the emotional challenges of 2020.
Our Aim: To undertake a new way of working for 2020/2021 and devise, write, and produce our own musical.
Our Outcome: A brand-new, completely original musical created by our cast and creative team that will be staged at the Theatre Royal Winchester to audiences both in-house and at-home.
This process will give our members the unique experience to be involved in the whole creative process, from initial concept to realisation on stage. Working with industry professionals experienced in this style of project, they will explore themes that have affected them during lockdown such as isolation, loss of relationships, and bereavement.
