Aim

To secure the funding for the key music licenses & archives required to complete our documentary film on double bass player Danny Thompson

We are half-way through making an hour-long documentary about the legendary bassist Danny Thompson.

Our aim is to do justice to his stellar 70-year career in the music industry during which he played with the biggest names in the British music scene - from John Martyn to Kate Bush, from Paul Weller to Cat Stevens, from Pentangle to Everything But The Girl , from Nick Drake to Rod Stewart.

So far we have shot interviews with the likes of Paul Weller, Richard Thompson, Ralph McTell, Eddi Reader and Billy Bragg among many others, all of whom speak glowingly not only about Danny the musician, but also Danny the man.

To complete the film we need to get and pay for the archive material which will bring it fully to life - music, film footage and photographs. In short, all the action and colour that will make the documentary properly reflect the genius and uniqueness of one of the all-time greats of British music.

We have an outstanding track-record in making high quality, entertaining documentaries (on subjects ranging from  Sir Peter Blake to The Style Council) and, with your help, this one will be every bit as rich and well crafted.  If you love the music to which Danny Thompson contributed his brilliance, enjoy our documentaries or simply want to ensure an authentic, grass-roots film project succeeds, any donation  - no matter how large or small - would be truly appreciated and will help make ‘Danny Thompson - 70 Years of Serving the Song’ happen…

Any donation to this Crowdfunder , no matter how large or small would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
