Hi, my name is Daniel Milligan and I’m the Scottish Green Party candidate for Colinton/Fairmilehead ward and I’m asking for your help to represent our party in the by election this January.

Edinburgh residents in Colinton, Fairmilehead, and areas in between have been called to the polls for a second time in 3 months, after the Lib Dem winner of the last by-election and the sitting SNP councillor both resigned within a week of polling day. This has given us an opportunity to extend our campaign to bring the Green message to Ward Colinton/Fairmilehead, but it also puts pressure on party finances as we start preparing for the 2026 Holyrood and 2027 local authority elections. The Scottish Green Party does not have large corporate donors, and depends on donations from individuals to carry out its work, so we are appealing for your support to continue to be able to run campaigns like this one.
The Greens have never had a councillor in this ward before, so the aim of the campaign is to make a start that we can build upon in future campaigns in South Edinburgh. Our campaign has been addressing several issues that the area has been left behind on, including active travel and accessibility provisions in the public realm, a lack of investment in new and existing social housing, and a scarcity of sports and recreational facilities. Please donate what you can to support our work in combatting the rise of hard-right narratives and breaking ground for a sustainable future in new areas of Edinburgh.
Please note: if you are kind enough to donate more than £50 to Daniel's campaign [£500 to the party] your name and address will be checked against the electoral register to ensure you are a permissible donor. Donations over £50 will appear in the election return and donors over £7,500 will appear on the Electoral Commission website. Multiple donations from the same source will be aggregated for recording and reporting purposes.
