I'm taking on a 24-hour danceathon on October 5th and 6th to raise funds for Sutton Community Farm, my employer for the last nearly 10 years. However (and with a bootylicious ‘butt’), there’s no way I can rock around the clock alone, so please read on to find out how you can support the cause!
Why Sutton Community Farm?
There are numerous things the farm needs money for in the near future, but most urgently to rebuild one of its largest polytunnels damaged in January by Storm Isha. The tunnel is out of action for this year and £5000 worth of crops have been lost this summer. We grow fruit and veg that we sell via our online farm shop and as a small farm every veg sale counts, so the current lost income from the exposed crops is significant.
We are applying for grant funding which will cover up to £5000 of the rebuild project, including trees to plant as windbreaks for protection against future storms, and this additional £3000 target is to close the funding gap.
More generally, it’s my thanks to the farm for having been such a progressive, supportive, life-changing employer over the last 9+ years, weathering my own personal storms with me! And of course, any excuse for a shimmy of any duration ;)
SO, how can you help?
