Hello!
We are Damp Matches, an unsigned band from Norwich, UK, and we are independently releasing our debut album 'It Won't Take Long' on November 7th 2025! The album release in itself is a huge achievement that we are enormously proud of, but what's really a dream for us is getting a run of it pressed on vinyl. There's just one problem: vinyl pressing is expensive. And we broke as hell.
Who are we?
Before we go any further, we'll tell you a bit about ourselves and why we think we're worth your time! We're an up-and-coming indie alt-rock band from the east of England. Think the moody snarl of Queens of the Stone Age poured over the scratchy stylings of Bloc Party and early Arctic Monkeys, fronted by Hayley Williams if she was trained from birth by Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke. Sound contrived? Maybe. But apparently it works, as we've seen BBC Radio 1 airplay on multiple occasions, most recently with our latest single 'Sweet Nothing' being chosen to close out one of Alyx Holcombe's Introducing Rock shows. Here are a few testimonials if you don't believe us:
‘One of Norwich's best-loved rock bands- you only have to go to one of their gigs to see that’- Kitty Perrin, BBC Radio Introducing East
'A collective instrument of energy and performance... viscerally enjoyable'- Meg Watts, Outline Magazine
‘Bending genres and creating something special... ‘Sweet Nothing’ is a lot of fun’- Dale Maplethorpe, Gigwise
‘Jam-packed with killer hooks, a soaring atmosphere, and mesmerising vocals throughout’- Chris Bound, Mystic Sons (praise for 'Sweet Nothing')
We played at Latitude festival last summer, we're at Wild Paths festival this year, and we were even picked to play at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend a few years back, a show which unfortunately never materialised due to covid restrictions at the time. We've been perennial headliners at venues all around our hometown of Norwich for years now, and have really started to branch out to other places this year, having played a flurry of 5 shows in 5 different places in the spring, including the nation's capital. With our first tour of the UK in the works for November, we're really hoping to take the next step following the album release and would love to have a limited run of 100 shiny new vinyls to offer our fans for their support! Unfortunately, this is a notoriously expensive undertaking for an independent and unsigned group like ourselves. That's where you come in (hopefully!)
Why should you donate?
Times are tough. The cost of living is through the roof and being a musician is a financially unforgiving endeavour. After all the costs associated with producing our record, we are left needing a helping hand to make our dream a reality.
We are asking you, the generous general public, to help us out with some donations towards our humble cause. Hear us out though, we won't be taking your money for nothing. For a very reasonable donation of £25, you will receive a copy of said vinyl pressing at absolutely no further cost (subject to stock levels, of course) once they have been delivered to us. Think of it as a pre-order of the album on wax. We are setting up some other rewards as well, such as t-shirts, handwritten lyrics, and even your name being credited on the back cover if you really want to splash out, so it'll be worth your while to donate! You'll also get that warm fuzzy feeling inside that comes from helping out a grassroots band and supporting an independent artist! And THAT my friends, is priceless.
Thank you!
If you are still reading this, we'd like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your time and for considering helping us out with our little project. We would not still exist as a band without people like you giving us the time of day! So once again, thank you!
We'll see you in the pit!
