Help get our much loved community Swimming Pool back to the heart of the community where it belongs!
We are a newly elected committee who have taken over the fundraising efforts to get our much loved community swimming pool back for our community and local district. We are a small team but all have a huge passion to achieve the reopening of our beloved pool for the 2026 season.
The pool was built 53 years ago by the local residents of Billinghay, children, friends, families all came together to build a space that the whole community came to love. Over time the pool has had needed repairs and we are at a stage now where it needs more. Due to frost damage affecting the top edges of the pool and the temporary fixes it has had over the years we are now at a level where the tiles around the top of the pool need to be replaced and also our dosage machine is very tired now and needs to be replaced to ensure constant safe water chemical levels. We have had to close for the 2025 season due not having the funds to do these repairs which has been a huge lost to a lot of different groups including SEND, Scouting, Schools, Youth groups, Parent and babies and the elderly. The Pool provides a safe space where people meet to catch-up which really helps with loneliness and their mental health. It provides much needed exercise to improve health and wellbeing. It give vital water confidence and water safety to our local children which is vital to maybe someday save someone's life. It has been greatly missed and we need to get it repaired so we can reopen in 2026.
We have had quotes to repair the pool which would include taking the top 3 tiles off from around the top of the pool which is the worse affected area, taking the concrete back to a solid area, re-screeding and then retiling all the area around the top of the pool. This also includes a new dosage machine which will then effectively distribute chemicals in to the pool which will keep the PH levels at the correct levels across the pool which will keep pool safe for people to swim in.

We have had huge support from the community and they want the Pool back open safely. We have had lots of messages to say the pool is missed and their children have missed out on swimming due to the prices being to expensive at other pools and its simply out of their household budget to take them. The groups that have used the pool do not have a facility of a similar size to use so often activities and events are scaled back or even cancelled which means families and individuals miss out on valuable time meeting others which impacts of their mental health and wellbeing. We have aqua classes which brings friends together for fitness and laughter, the SEND groups who use it as a valuable space to feel comfortable and give their children the much needed experiences with the knowledge they are safe, the scouting groups who use it to earn badges to extend their scouting knowledge, the schools who teach their children the much needed life lessons of water safety and the ability to swim, the triathlon groups who use it for extra training to compete at the highest of levels, the Sunday morning swimmers who have their weekly meetups not only to swim but to catch-up over a cup of coffee about how their week has been and maybe the only in depth conversation their have managed to have all week and the families who value the down time they can enjoy with their children away from troubles of everyday life where they can see the kids laugh and smile with the excitement of spending valued time together. Billinghay & District Community Swimming Pool is more than a pool its a place where memories are made, a place where friendships are formed and where knowledge is learnt which will last a life time!
