Southern Malawi is hit badly by Cyclone Freddy!
Children around Jimbe primary school in NENO distric need our urgent essential help! The raised funds will be immediately used to buy essentials such as food, water and clothing by our team on the ground.
After the worst Cholera outbreak in history Southern Malawi is now facing even bigger challenge - a battle with the strongest and longest tropical cyclone ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere, according to the World Meteorological Organization.
Experts says climate change is making tropical storms around the world wetter, windier and more intense!

Our fellow trustee, team and friends living in Blantyre are facing the disaster and are regularly updating us on the situation. We are happy for every minute they have power and are able to communicate with us. Our hearts are broken and we are sending them love and prayers constantly.
People living in rural areas are basically cut. The simple houses are most likely wiped out, there are no cars, the infrastructure is damaged and the whole region is facing power cuts. There is no access for rescue teams so it is very difficult to predict the damage and lost of lives.
Southern Malawi doesn't have present of any humanitarian aid, neither present of NGO's.
Malawi’s government has declared a “state of disaster” in the southern region of the country including Neno district (one of the poorest districts in the country) and Blantyre, Malawi’s commercial capital.
As of 18th March, 2023, 86,604 households have been displaced total 362,928 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who are currently residing in 506 camps set up for those who have lost their homes and belongings, while 445 people have died, 282 are missing, and 918 have sustained various injuries. Public infrastructure such as schools, health facilities, and district and main roads have been damaged in all affected districts.
Government is already responding to the emergencies, rendering urgent assistance to all affected districts, and appealing for local and international support for all the families affected by this disaster.
Thank you.
