We are raising money to help the communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.
Emergency Appeal: Help Sri Lankan Families Devastated by Cyclone Ditwah
Fundraising Target: £10,000
We have found a matching donor (up to £5,000) towards this disaster appeal, which means your donation is worth double!
Last week, Cyclone Ditwah struck Sri Lanka with unimaginable force - unleashing catastrophic floods and landslides that have already claimed more than 460 lives, with hundreds still missing. More than 30,000 homes have been washed away or severely damaged. Entire communities are now struggling to survive with nothing left to call their own.
Across the country, thousands of families, including infants, elderly people, and those with disabilities, are sheltering in crowded schools, temples, churches, and temporary camps. They urgently need our help.
The Dust Project is working alongside Paalam Project who are delivering aid to families across many regions in Sri Lanka. Your contribution will help us deliver urgently needed relief packs containing essential food such as rice, dhal, canned fish, soya, instant noodles, milk powder, and bottled drinking water. It will also allow us to supply vital hygiene and medical items including toiletries, soap, sanitary products, towels, mats, Panadol, and baby diapers. These relief packs cost around 6,000 rupees each, approximately £15, to help one family.

We have had requests and are now working with the Gampaha and Jaffna NGO offices to co-ordinate help into the affected areas. We hope to raise enough funds to help 120 families in Gampaha and 200 families in Kopay, Jaffna, obtain these much needed relief packs.
In addition, we aim to provide items such as clothing, blankets, polythene sheets, tarpaulins, sleeping mats, plastic cups, plates, utensils, umbrellas, and plastic chairs - everything families need to survive these harsh conditions with dignity.
Alongside this, Negombo, Ja-Ela and other areas surrounding the communities we usually support, have been devastated, as well as areas up in Kandy where the project has contacts. As further funding comes in additional items, relief packs, and help with clear-up, will be distributed across these areas to ensure those who require help receive it at this time.
This is one of the most devastating disasters Sri Lanka has faced in years. Your support today will bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those who have lost everything.
Please donate and share this appeal widely. Together, we can do more.
Thank you for standing with Sri Lanka in this time of great need.
