BigBen +24hrs +bikes +200miles +200lbs(Ralph!) +165lbs(Will) +ferry +pain +cramp +croissants = EiffelTower. Back Us/Family Space +Rewards4U
Starting late afternoon Saturday 4th May by Big Ben we've challenged ourselves to get to the Eiffel Tower within 24 hours... cycling.
Four riders, a van and three back up crew - will be painful, but hopefully fun too.
The image of Cheltenham for many is of being quite affluent. Unfortunately not the case in some of west Cheltenham where social deprivation is very high.
After years of social services funding cuts, demand for Family Space's services has only increased - often being called on by social workers and health visitors - so much that in 2018 over 800 adults and children where directly helped. Two examples:
"I never thought divorce would cause so much upset. I just wanted to spend time with my sons who I love so much and miss every second I'm away from them. Thank you for helping me and my sons to future happiness." Dad using Contact Centre
"When I spiralled into postnatal depression and severe anxiety my Health Visitor referred me to Family Space. They supported me and are always available when i need help. I can now live every day life as it should be" Mother using TimeOut
Family Space receives no government funding and operates only as long as supporters contribute time and finance.
Will & Ralph are riding along with brothers, Duncan & Chris Parker. Ably supported by John (driver & Mr Upbeat), Andy (magic hands) the physio and Farrah (comms - share our pain in real time if you like!) plus gratitude for transport assistance from Pemberstone's team
This project successfully funded on 8th May 2019
