Aim

Cycling through Namibia to raise money for Save the Rhino Trust, helping secure a future for the endangered desert-adapted black rhino.

Who are we?

Save the Rhino Trust (SRT) is a Namibia-based conservation organisation founded in 1982 to protect the world's last free-roaming population of desert-adapted black rhinos in the Kunene and Erongo regions.

We are Team Rido (Jess, Kelly, Mark & Paul)!

We're a small but dedicated team of amateur cyclists raising money for SRT, looking to make it across 220 gruelling miles through the Namibian desert in temperatures of up to 30°C. We’ll be off-road and on sand and loose gravel, enduring relentlessly undulating terrain and one famously brutal 8 km climb.

We’ll be travelling from the Ugab River to Palmwag Lodge, with Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain as our backdrop. Each day will mean long hours in the sun, heavy legs, limited shade, and careful management of water and nutrition.

This isn’t a luxury tour — it’s a tough endurance challenge designed to mirror the hardship of desert life and in support of an extraordinary animal, the desert-adapted black rhino.

1772545831_images.jpegDesert life in Namibia is a daily battle for the black rhino. Poaching and a total lack of government protection make survival even harder which is where Save the Rhino Trust (SRT) comes in. SRT has been the frontline protector of Namibia’s black rhinos since 1982, keeping constant surveillance across vast, remote areas and enjoying amazing success.

Through their tireless efforts and sensitive community outreach work, SRT has avoided the horrendous levels of rhino poaching suffered elsewhere in Southern Africa. But their work is under threat due to the withdrawal of their USAID funding and so our support is now more important than ever.

Your donation will help fund anti-poaching patrols, monitoring and community-led conservation work across Damaraland.

Please support our ride and help protect the magnificent desert rhinos.  Let's do this!

Much love & thanks,

Team Rido
