Aim
Bringing the Carnival procession back to Cwmcarn with a vibrant family fun day, a 50 piece Samba band, a village procession and a party
Cwmcarnival was created with the desire to bring the village together for a summer celebration while reviving a tradition that once meant so much to the people of Cwmcarn. Many locals still speak fondly about the old carnival processions that brought the villages to life, with the last major carnival remembered taking place in the 1980s. Although the tradition faded over time, the memories and community spirit behind it never disappeared.
The idea for Cwmcarnival really began when the well-known Welsh samba band Barra Cwda asked to play in the village! Whilst at the same time a group of people reading the old classic "Lily in the Valley" asked 'where did it all go'?
That sparked conversations about creating something involving many more people — something that could bring the excitement of music, colour, creativity, and community back into the heart of Cwmcarn. After speaking to several amazing women who run local businesses and organisations within the village, the excitement grew quickly, and everyone became incredibly excited about the idea.
What started as a conversation soon became a shared vision for a vibrant modern Carnival featuring live music, entertainment, family activities, local food, art, opportunities for local businesses and performers to shine, and a carnival procession through the village.
Cwmcarnival is about more than just one event. It’s about reconnecting the community, creating new memories for younger generations and a sense of rememberance for the older, supporting local talent, and bringing back a tradition that deserves to live on for years to come.
All money raised will go directly towards the carnival but most importantly to providing FREE fun for the children, so all the children of the village can get involved from facepainting, festival hair art to games and crafts and the procession.
We want to make this an annual celebration and would love to see it grow. All sponsorship will go towards growing CWMCARNIVAL!
