Save the Pavilion at Chislehurst & West Kent Cricket Club so we can all continue to enjoy this iconic landmark building in our community
***UPDATE MAY 2026***
We would like to thank every single one of you who has donated to our cause so far, the details of which are set out below. We are overwhelmed by the extent of the kindness shown and the enthusiasm we have felt in the community for our project.
There have been many hours of discussion and planning for the refurbishment since we launched, and we have sought expert advice from many sources, including architects, planning teams and fundraisers. Progress is active and we are excited to share that applications are currently being prepared for the Heritage Fund and other grants to try to boost our funding level. In addition, members and supporters of the club have embarked on numerous fundraising activities over recent months with great passion and all of our events have been supported to an overwhelming degree by the local community. Our events have included something for everyone - an afternoon tea, a re-enactment of a historic cricket match, a beer festival in conjunction with The Cockpit, darts evenings and the club’s first ever Cricket Ball in May 2026 kindly supported by our good neighbours at Chislehurst Golf Club. The ball in particular was a phenomenal success and we raised over £25,000 towards our cause which is a testament to the kindness and generosity of so many guests and friends who bought tickets and raffle tickets and who donated prizes and auction lots and gave generous bids.
The work that has gone on behind the scenes to stage these events has been remarkable and we are proud of all that has been achieved so far - but we still have a long way to go. Our efforts continue and this summer we will be continuing our enthusiasm for the project with a series of further events. Updates will be posted on our website and via social media and everyone in the community is welcome to attend, whether a cricket lover or not.
In the meantime, we are grateful for any support – however small. Please spread the word and help us to make a difference to our local community and to sustain this remarkable historic facility for us all to enjoy, not just for cricket but for many other community events and activities which everyone can share in.
Thank you!

Chislehurst & West Kent Cricket Club sits in the heart of Chislehurst, set on the beautiful common and enjoyed by cricketers, dog walkers, and many passers-by. The club has a reputation for friendliness to any visitor – not just members – and on a summer evening the Pavilion is often teeming with members of the community enjoying the beautiful setting over a drink. The pavilion was built in 1899 and is an Indian-style bungalow pavilion: one of the few examples in the whole country of a pre-WW1 cricket pavilion of the style that has not gone significant alteration.
We have embarked on a fundraising effort to save our Pavilion - the heart and soul of the club and an iconic landmark in Chislehurst – and to transform its significance beyond just cricket into the wider community. The pavilion currently provides changing facilities for the players as well as a small bar and function room. A conservation-led refurbishment will make the building not only fit for current players but will also allow the introduction of cricket for girls and cricket for disabled children. It will also provide a community hub for all to enjoy, whether for events, afternoon teas or a cup of coffee during your dog walk.
Importantly, without these repairs we risk losing this historic local building to decay and the loss of a landmark feature of the West Kent area.
Target
We strive to raise a minimum of £50,000 through this Crowdfunder which will be supplemented by – we truly hope – other funds raised through organised applications and grant awards. Our fundraising is well underway but local help is crucial if we are going to achieve our goal. The pictures below show just how well the Pavilion has stood over the years – incredibly you will still see many similarities now with how it looked 120 years ago!
The club has in the past run campaigns to fund upgrades to the sports facilities for our members and we have been immensely grateful for all support we received for these upgrades – it has been transformative. We hope this project will be transformative too, with your help.
Come and see us!
We extend a warm welcome to all visitors, so come and join us and see for yourselves what our project involves and we would be extremely grateful if you were able to make a donation to support our efforts.
