Install a secondary AED at the Gas Works Car Park in Falmouth.
We are aiming to raise £2,000 in order to install a life saving defibrillator on Custom House Quay, Falmouth.
Custom House Quay has long been a community hub for Falmouth. The International Shanty Festival has been hosted there for generations, and the quay hosts some of Falkmouth's most popular pubs; The Chain Locker, The Stables, The Quayside and The Front.
Community defibrillators have saved lives. In the USA, over 1,700 lives are saved each year by AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators). The chances of surviving cardiac arrest raise from 6% with CPR alone, to 74% with the use of a defibrillator. They are demonstrably important, and should be as ubiquitous as possible.
The nearest one to Custom House Quay is 250 yards away at the Events Square car park, which whilst close, sadly proved not close enough when one person lost their life on CHQ in 2022 due to cardiac arrest.
We would like to do everything we can to avoid such a tragedy again, and as such have identified a space for an AED with the local authorities, and would like to raise £2,000 for the device to be fitted and registered with the emergency services.
Any additional funds will be put towards another AED being purchased for the Gas Works Car Park in Falmouth.
