Curl Talk is a bold new comedy-drama series set inside a vibrant South London beauty salon, following a young Black female entrepreneur as she navigates business, friendships, family pressures, ambition, and the everyday chaos of salon life. At its heart, Curl Talk is about community, identity, resilience, and the unfiltered conversations that happen in spaces often overlooked on screen.

As a creative and filmmaker, I’ve always wanted to create stories that feel authentic to the communities I come from and the people I see around me. So many Black British stories are underrepresented, especially stories that show humour, warmth, entrepreneurship, and everyday life in a relatable way. Curl Talk aims to change that by creating a series that is culturally honest, entertaining, and visually exciting.

This project is being developed independently alongside a passionate team of young creatives including filmmakers, photographers, actors, editors, and producers who believe in telling impactful stories and creating opportunities within the industry. Beyond creating a great series, this project is also about giving emerging talent hands-on experience and building a platform for the next generation of creatives.

Our vision is to produce a high-quality pilot episode that can be used to pitch the series to broadcasters, streaming platforms, film festivals, and production partners. We want Curl Talk to grow beyond a single project into a recognised British television series that resonates globally.

The money raised through this crowdfunder will go directly into bringing this series to life professionally. This includes:
• Hiring cast and crew
• Securing locations
• Production design and salon set dressing
• Camera, lighting, and sound equipment
• Catering and transport
• Costumes, hair, and makeup
• Post-production editing, colour grading, and sound
• Festival submissions and distribution preparation
