Aim

We're bringing local people together in a warm, safe space every week. Anyone who is lonely, isolated or struggling to stay warm is welcome.

Who are we?

St Therese of Lisieux Parish is at the heart of Ingleby Barwick and we created the Cuppa & A Chat Café to give everyone from the local community somewhere to go each week that's warm and inviting.

We want to help people to meet, chat and make new connections in a warm, safe space.

Community impact

We know the cost of living crisis is making it hard for lots of people to stay warm and take care of themselves. It’s impacting everyone, but some are struggling more than others. This, coupled with the long lasting effects of Covid and lockdowns, has left many people feeling isolated and lonely too.

We want to welcome as many people as possible to join us every week at the Cuppa & A Chat cafe. It’s a way for people to reconnect with their local community and feel part of something special. A sense of belonging is important to us all, now more than ever.

The cafe is open to anyone living locally. For a few hours each week we provide a warm, welcoming and safe environment for people to meet, enjoy warm drinks and a selection of homemade snacks. We also know how important it is to get people together, so they can talk and make friends. For some people the café is a lifeline.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The cafe is free and open to anyone living locally.

We need to raise funds to run the sessions every week and to support more people.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Energy bills are soaring, so we'll use the funds raised to cover the cost of gas and electricity to heat the community hall.

We'll also buy supplies to run the café, as we offer unlimited hot drinks and warming homemade snacks.

A little of the money will also be used to promote the café to more people across the local area.
