If possible we would like to upgrade our current cricket pitch cutter
Hi everyone, we're trying to raise money to repair our off-field practice area and showers in our dressing rooms.
Since 1875, nearly 150 years, Crook Town Cricket Club has served the local community. We're trying really hard to develop our facilities, as we strive to attract more local community members to our club.
CTCC has been a member of the prestigious North East Premier League since gaining promotion from the Durham League in 2018 but our playing history is very much associated with the now defunct Durham County League. At our picturesque Dawson Street ground, we have welcomed players and families to our club and continue to provide cricket for everyone, all ages, men & women, boys & girls..

We take great pride in striving to be a family orientated club and there is always a warm and friendly atmosphere awaiting our guests!
Many people are unaware that the cricket club almost permanently closed as recently as 10 years ago. Poor management and various other reasons meant our volunteer run club was on the brink of ceasing to exist. Thankfully, we were able to stay alive. A change in club officials brought us a change of fortune. Within a couple of years there was a rebuild well and truly under way both on and off the field. Our clubhouse, with the help of our fantastic local counsellors, underwent a substantial development and work commenced to rebuild the playing section within the club.

As well as providing cricket opportunities to over 80 playing members, the cricket club is quickly becoming a local hub to the town. Our facilities are used for private social functions, weddings, christenings, funerals etc and we host several community-based groups who use our facilities for various reasons. Children’s dance groups, seniors Friday night bingo, school groups, Cheshire Homes (Nursing Home) staff training days, local sporting groups committee meetings to name just a few. For many people Crook Cricket Club is the backbone of many peoples sporting and social lives. As a club we are striving to attract as many new faces and as many new community groups as possible.

Covid-19 decimated many businesses and sporting clubs up and down the country. Sadly, we were no different at the club. 2020 was identified in our 5-year plan as the year when we would achieve our goal of becoming a sustainable club once again. Government regulations of course meant that our clubhouse & bar had to close. Our only source of income. No more functions or parties no more bar sales. Therefore, we are now fundraising to ensure our financial security and protect our standing in the local community.
We have three goals:
Our first aim is to upgrade our off-field practice area and repair our mobile batting cage. We need to replace all the surrounding net and there is also a need to relay some of the practice pitches. Our junior section is growing, and we desperately need to provide an off-field area for practice sessions. We anticipate your contribution will help provide practice facilities for over 50 kids, boys & girls and of course senior players. We anticipate continuing to build our relationships with local schools over the coming months. With the help of the Durham Cricket Board, we hope to increase our junior section further by offering our facilities to host school cricket festival days where over 150 local children from local primary congregate on our ground for a day of fun games playing softball cricket!

There is a need to redevelop the shower area in our dressing rooms. The tiled walls need attention, parts of the area need removing and a new extractor fan must be fitted. Within the dressing rooms parts of the flooring has failed and needs to be replaced. Both dressing of the dressing room doors are old in need of being replaced also.

If we can stretch our budget, the club is desperate to start upgrading the ground maintenance equipment. Our pitch cutter, which could well be our newest piece of equipment, is over 20 years old. There is great pride taken by our ground staff to present the playing surfaces of the club in the best possible condition and clearly machinery plays a part in achieving this. We are particularly keen to replace our pitch cutter at this time to ensure we can continue to keep our playing area in the best of conditions.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and read our story. Any donation that you make today will be gratefully received and know that your contribution will go a long way to a having a positive effect on many (mostly young) lives.
