Aim

To improve the training equipment and resources for our players this will allow the club to run a Summer Camp for underage players.

Who are we?

Crossmaglen Rangers Camogie Club was reformed in 1987 by Sheila King and Josephine Gregory. Maura McAvoy became part of its committee shortly after.  Cross were the first camogie club in South Armagh and paved the way for the revival in the area.

Since its inception, the club has worked its way up from success at underage level, (primary, post-primary, U14 and U16) and took the Junior and Intermediate Championship. 2002 gave them the Senior Premier League Title but undoubtedly the most memorable year in the club’s history was 2003 when they won the Senior County, Ulster and All-Ireland Junior Championship titles.

The clubs underage teams have also continued to perform well in both league and championship competitions throughout the county, having progressed well in primary and post-primary.  2009 saw the club participating in an U14 league for the first time in many years.  It is hoped that over the coming years the club will continue to extend its underage structures

The club has undergone a major rebuilding process in recent years, having to go back to grass roots and only field teams at U8, U10 and U12 in 2011.  However, this proved to be extremely beneficial and now firm foundations are in place for the future.

Now, for the first time in quite a number of years, the club prepare for this season with teams at all age levels within Armagh Camogie.

Community impact

The club provides community support and facilities, via experienced trainers and equipment. This allows all under-age players engage in sporting activities in a safe and secure environment to enhance and improve their fitness and social interaction.

To improve the wider community sports facilities for all ages and to promote and encourage the benefits of exercise and improve well being, the club has created an extensive walking track around two of the playing pitches. The track is illuminated to allow use all year round, as shown in the night-time aerial photograph.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The clubs ability to organise fund raising events has been severely effected by the Covid 19 restrictions since 2020.

The financial impact during this period has been significant and placed a substantial strain of the clubs finances.

The fund raising is geared towards the purchase of equipment to be used at all age levels for our upcoming Summer Camp in August 2022. The loss of fundraising opportunities since 2020, has significantly impacted the clubs ability to replace and upgrade the equipment required to deliver quality coaching to all our young players.

The proposed Summer Camp that the club will be holding in August 2022, will cater for all ages from Under 16 down to Under 6. This equates to 9 groups each containing approximately 20 kids per group.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will play an integral part in the purchase of training equipment for the proposed Summer Camp that the club will be holding in August 2022, for all ages from Under 16 down to Under 6.
