Who are Cropwell Cricket Club?
Cropwell CC is a cricket club based in South Nottinghamshire. We are an open and community friendly cricket club that plays an integral role in bringing sport to the villages of Cropwell Bishop, Cropwell Butler and surrounding areas.
Why are we looking for your support?
Due to the unprecedented circumstances faced by Covid-19, the club is looking to raise capital from its members and supporters in the villages and wider community to help develop and maintain the cricket club during these uncertain times
Currently, despite there being no playing season as of yet, the club has had to continue to pay running and maintenance costs including; insurance and grounds upkeep.
What we offer to the wider community?
Cropwell Cricket has provided an integral focal point to village life for many years. Our volunteers work tirelessly to help maintain and improve the Sheldon field, not only for the club's use and enjoyment, but also the public’s daily use. Many have seen the benefits more than ever in recent weeks, with many integrating the field into their daily exercising or dog walking routine due to the Covid - 19 lockdown.
We will be more than grateful to receive any further donation however big or small.
We also regularly arrange charity events, raising money for a number of charities over the years, including ALEX; a charity close to our hearts, as our scorer and long standing member suffers from this rare illness. Once the season is able to start, we will again raise some valuable funds for this fantastic charity.
The Christmas charity 11-a-side football match is always well attended, this year raising funds for the Bobby Moore foundation, in memory of Dave Abbott (a local resident, who was involved in the local football team for many years).
We should also mention the annual bonfire night and fireworks display, which is the major fundraising event for the Sheldon Field. This event attracts around 600 local residents to what must be one of the best bonfires in the County.
Another big day for our club and community, is the 6-a-side competition. This sees teams made up of players and non-players from the surrounding villages and attracts a good crowd to the ground, to watch an entertaining and fun packed afternoon of cricket. We have a bouncy castle and BBQ throughout the day and have recently been joined by the Notts County Cricket Club travelling roadshow, aimed at encouraging youngsters into the game of cricket. A day that is enjoyed by players and spectators alike.
