Aim

To purchase a shared Cargo Bike that expands low‑carbon transport and strengthens creative, community‑led climate action in Dundee.

Critical Mass Dundee is delighted that we’ve secured a Dundee Changemakers microgrant to kick‑start the purchase of a shared REGO Cargo Bike.

Since September 2024 we've ran monthly community rides as Critical Mass Dundee, ran Dr Bike sessions, collaborated with local artists, kick started Kidical Mass Dundee again and advocating for better cycle infrastructure in the city.

This new grant moves us into an exciting phase: expanding access to a shared REGO Cargo Bike, a durable, Scottish‑re‑made, zero‑carbon transport tool that community groups, artists, organisers and individuals across Dundee can use to deliver creative projects, climate‑action activities and everyday low‑carbon journeys.

The Changemakers Grant is £1500.00; this additional Crowdfunder will allow us to purchase a REGO bike, insurance, buy a high‑rated lock, run training sessions, and add essential accessories. Dundee Cycle Hub has agreed to store the bike in the new Bell Street Hub secure cycle parking for shared access 24/7.

If you support this Crowdfunder we'll be making sure your support is visible on the bike; this will either be part of a series of flags and accessories, or decals on the frame.

The REGO Cargo Bike is the first of its kind in Scotland: an innovative circular‑economy cargo bike designed and re‑manufactured by Ariel Bikes in collaboration with Cyclehub.org. Built from scrap frames collected across Tayside, these bikes are remade into practical, fun, hard‑working cargo bikes that keep materials in use and carbon emissions low.

Alongside supporting Critical Mass events — carrying speakers, equipment and supplies — the bike will be made available for organisations and individuals in Dundee to use for creative projects, climate activism, local engagement and everyday journeys for free.

Help us purchase this bike, so communities and individuals across the city can benefit from the use of this bike; a zero emission, fun, impactful way of moving kit through the city!
